What is 16mm Film?
Back in the early days of film production, movies were actually shown by running really long film reels through a projector. Each of these film reels was typically about 1,000 feet long.
How long is the playback for such a reel? Surprisingly, a reel of film that length contains only about 11 minutes of footage.
How we digitise it.
Frame-by-frame scanning
Film is scanned frame by frame rather than projected, so there is no flicker.
Gentle film handling
Brittle film is inspected and repaired by hand before scanning.
Sound and silent film
Magnetic and optical sound tracks are captured with the picture.
Colour restoration
Colour casts from ageing film stock are corrected.

- How is film priced?
- From HK$600 per reel. The final price depends on reel diameter and sound; a specialist confirms it before we start.
- How do I get my media to Capture?
- Choose door-to-door collection (HK$200, free for orders of HK$2,500 or more), drop off at our Central store, or send it to us by SF Express.
- How do I receive my files?
- Files are delivered on a Capture USB flash drive (HK$99) or uploaded to Google Photos (HK$99). You can choose both.
- Do I get my originals back?
- Yes. Collect them at our Central store or have them returned by SF Express.
- How much do I pay upfront?
- Only a deposit when you order online. The balance is paid when your files are ready, based on what we actually digitised.
